I am new to the area and saw a promotion they were having from 10 am to 2pm for seniors.

I did forget the times and showed up @ 45 minutes late, but the salon was empty. I explained to the no nonsense, unfriendly receptionist that I had misread the sign, was new to the area, and needed a cut before Thanksgiving.

She refused to advance me the promotion (I guess she enjoyed having an empty salon).

All I can say is GOOD JOB! You lost an opportunity for a long term customer, and I found an excellent stylist at Great Clips.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

If I were the franchise owner, I would have made an exception, and did your hair myself. Being that it was an employee, she most likely would have gotten "written up" for breaking the rules by a tight -*** owner.

You must have some sort of idea that these employees have rules to follow. Why would you insist that they break the rules and get into trouble? A lot of owners aren't even licensed, and everything is only dollars and cents to them. They treat and pay their employees like dirt.

The cheaper chain places are the McDonald's of the hair industry, and they hire newly-minted stylists, because they are just starting out, and are the only ones who will put up w/ the abuse of working at one of these places . If you want good customer service, AND a better hairstyle/cut/color, then go to a small business salon. Ask your friends for recommendations. Support small business, and stop funding a franchise owner's 3rd vacation home.

You get what you pay for.

Until you stop being cheap, your hair gone be ugly. And it's your fault you were late.

Quit whining, it was nobody's fault but your own that you were late, The excuses you gave the so-called unfriendly receptionist aren't what you first stated. When talking to the receptionist you were just making up excuses because first you said in your complaint, you made the statement that you forgot the times, so to heck with the fact that you misread the sign, and were new to the area, and you definitely weren't going to drop dead if you didn't have a haircut before Thanksgiving.

If you had only been five-ten minutes late, they might have made an exception, but 45 minutes is just plain ridiculously late. There is no excuse for being that late. Get your act together and be on time.

As far as the stylists enjoying an empty salon, they probably were enjoying it because during the hours of the promotion they had probably worked their butts off and were enjoying a break.

Your opinion anonymous. Have dealt with many other businesses, and I own one too, that would have stepped out of the box to accommodate a client (especially a new client with business acquisition costs so high, and the competitiveness of the industry being what it is). I am sure the manager of this location or the franchise owner would agree.

Why should the salon accommodate someone that FAILED to pay attention to the sign? They knew they were over 45 minutes past the allotted time.
